Many of the most pressing issues in ecology require understanding how biological systems respond to global scale changes in climate and habitat. In order to understand these impacts it is necessary to study ecology at large scales. Research in our lab focuses on using quantitative macroecological approaches, including large ecological databases, advanced statistical methods, and theoretical modeling to understand broad scale ecological patterns. To facilitate rapid research in these areas we develop tools to simplify working with large datasets. We conduct our science in an open and reproducible manner to help increase our knowledge of the natural world as rapidly as possible.
